Extending the exhibition beyond the walls, visitors encounter Stop By, a monumental carpet artwork originally conceived by Paola Pivi for ArtVerona 2021. Produced by Ege Carpets in collaboration with Aquafil using recycled ocean plastics and manufactured in Highline 1100, the work makes its second appearance as an integral part of the exhibition.
Designed by the artist herself, Stop By incorporates the image of a ladder derived from Untitled (project for Echigo Tsumari) (2015), a monumental twenty-metre inflatable sculpture first created for the Echigo Tsumari Triennale in rural Japan. Previously installed against architectural landmarks including a school in Japan, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and the façade of the Grand Palais in Paris, the ladder is reimagined here as a horizontal landscape, inviting visitors to walk across a monumental image once experienced vertically.
More than a surface, Stop By echoes the expressive language of the pearl installations through its organic composition and vibrant colour palette, connecting the different works and guiding visitors through the gallery as a continuous artistic landscape.
